Key Games Feature

Key Games Feature

The Key Games feature allows football pickem managers to enable an additional strategy beyond just picking games on the pick sheet. By enabling the Key Games feature, players can now select which games they are more confident in and earn extra points. An extra column with a header labeled 'Key Game' is presented on the football pick sheet that allows players to select which games they want to try to get extra points for.

Manager Setup

There are three items the manager can configure to enable the key games feature:
  1. The number of games on the pick sheet a player can mark as a key game to earn extra points.
  2. The bonus points a player earns when they correctly pick a game that they also marked as a key game.
  3. OPTIONAL, but encouraged: Which games on the football pick sheet are eligible to be marked as a key game. The manager must enable 'Manger Sets Schedule' to be able to choose which games on the pick sheet will be eligible for players to use. This is useful to prevent players from gravitating to the same heavy favorites as their key games, which would otherwise minimize the worth of enabling the key games feature in the first place (basically rendering the extra strategy as pointless).

Players

When a manager enables the key games feature, players are presented with an extra column on their football pick sheet. The goal of the player is to select which games (up to the number configured by the manager) they think are the most likely to be correct in order to earn the bonus points. In the example below, the manager has configured the pick sheet to allow 3 games to be selected as key games. The manager has also, via the Manager -> Set Schedule' page, deselected two games (the Cowboys @ Bucs and 49ers @ Lions) to make them ineligible for the player to use as a key game.
